Planning Your Private Waters Trip?
We can't wait to get you on the water! Before you book, please note important updates to our seasonal schedule:
- Summer Restrictions due to Water Temps / Flows: The private waters is only available for trout when the water temperature is within safe limits. We do not offer private water trips over the summer, and we will swap trips to public waters if the water conditions do not allow safe trout fishing. No private waters trips in July or August, and we will cut off trips in mid-June through mid-September depending on water conditions.
- Tuesday Availability only after 5pm in April and May: On Tuesdays NJ Fish & Wildlife stock the South Branch of the Raritan River. All waters are closed until 5pm with the exception of Ken Lockwood Gorge.
- No Weekend Availability in April / May or September / October: During our peak months (April/May and Sept/Oct), we can only accommodate private water trips on weekdays.
- Large Groups & Corporate Outings Require Custom Booking: Any group of more than 4 anglers or any corporate outing requires custom logistics, gear prep, and dedicated hosting. To ensure we provide the best experience, these trips must be coordinated directly with our team for custom pricing.

Private water guided fishing
We are excited to continue our partnership with Shannon's Private Waters at the Raritan Inn offering access to privately stocked, restored trout waters just outside of Califon, New Jersey. Let us provide you with expertly guided fly fishing trips that are safe, comfortable, informative and always exciting.
Corporate and group bookings are available and provide an alternative to the classic golf outing. Host your next team conference at the Raritan Inn and enjoy a one-of-a-kind team building opportunity through fly fishing! Private or corporate groups can book the entire facility and have it at their disposal on the day of their visit. For inquiries, please call or email us!
All fishing is with barbless hooks on a fly rod and all the fish must be released. Both Rainbow and Brown Trout are stocked and there are spawning wild Brown Trout and native Brook Trout present. This is the place to fish in a secluded unspoiled setting for large trout (2-5 pound fish are common) one hour from Manhattan.

Private Water Rates
HALF-DAY
4 hour, walk/wade trips:
$350 for single anglers
$500 for two anglers
$875 for three anglers
$1000 for four anglers
We limit each guide to no more than 2 anglers.
Scheduling can be limited during peak seasons (Apr-Jun + Sep/Oct), if there is a specific day you are looking to go to the private waters please call prior to booking!
EQUIPMENT RENTAL
Waders + Boots - $25 for the session
Rod + Reel - $25 for the session
Rental gear is only available for guide trip customers for the day of their trip
