Week of December 8th 2024: Rain on Queue (or Cue?)

Week of December 8th
The cold air seems to be moving around and leaving us with two days of some rain this week. We could get up to two inches and the assist couldn’t come at a better time - the Jim Holland Memorial Stocking is just around the corner - the second or third week of January.
An order is in for 430 of Jeff Mancini's finest rainbows and browns -- ranging from 10" - 25". There'll be one jaw tagged Bubba and a second decoy Bubba as well.
We'll be getting a permit to stock in KLG, just like last year, and then up along River Rd to Vernoy Rd until we run out of fish.
Be sure you are subscribed to our mailing list and following us on the socials for the official announcement!
In the meantime, the stocked fish from the fall continue to please anglers with the time and patience to stalk them. Taking advantage of my time to fish this week produced a few rainbows lurking in the soft water near banks and adjacent to runs. Adjusting the number of small split shot or going with just a tungsten bead can help find the right depth. Don’t let refraction fool you. The low flow is real, but some spots can be deceptively deep, so run your fly through just to check before passing by water you’d normally walk past.
There is a week left in the sale at the shop on particular products from our top brands: first generation Winston Pure and Douglas DXF rods; Patagonia and Redington waders are 30% off. Korkers Buckskin boots for men and women are 40% off. There is more, too, so come by and see us before Friday!
Air temps are more mild this week and the fishing should be great. Things will only get better once the fish from the Holiday Stocking are in and have a chance to spread out and get acclimated to their new homes. Come by for things for yourself and grab a few gifts or gear for the other people in your life.
It’s perfect, somewhere! Roy B.
