2007 Dates:

Session 1 (9 days) -Full

1st week
(June 18-22) 9am-3pm w/ Thursday sleepover at Orella Ranch (between El Cap and Refugio), pickup Friday, June 22 at 3pm at Ledbetter Beach (Shoreline Cafe)

2nd week
(June 25-28) Monday 9am-3pm
Tuesday, June 26, meet at Shoreline Cafe at 6:30am, departing sharply at 7am to catch ferry in Ventura for Santa Cruz Island. Tuesday and Wednesday evenings are camping at Santa Cruz Island, return Thursday, July 28th on 4pm ferry. Expected arrival time into Ventura Harbor is 5:30pm; expected arrival time to Paddle Sports (SB harbor complex) is 6:30pm. No camp on Friday, July 29th.
Session 2 (5 days) - Space Still Availalbe
 
Monday July 16 thru Friday July 20
Times: Monday - Thursday 9am-3pm with Thursday night sleepover at Orella Ranch (between El Cap and Refugio), pickup Friday, July 20 at 12 noon at Ledbetter Beach (Shoreline Cafe).

Ages: Grades 3-6
Camp Objectives: Through fun experiential learning activities, adventurers will understand how they are the most important player in the future of our natural resources through sustainable usage, low-impact intrusions, and healthy living practices.
  • Fun will always be a fundamental objective each day with intermingled learning lessons that will teach each adventurer ways to protect and preserve their natural resources starting with our daily activities.
  • To spread the message of sustainability and healthy living to the younger generations through first-hand learning activities and the utilization of grass-root programs.

Menu:

Eating healthy is very important at Y.A.C. Campers will enjoy many organic and locally grown foods as meals and snacks. We buy from the local Farmer's Market, Trader Joes, and Lazy Acres. Each meal we prepare is both delicious and well balanced. We do not serve trans-fat foods or foods high in high-fructose syrup.

Some items sure to be found at a picnic table this summer:

  • Whole grain quesadillas with organic cheese, turkey, salsa and guacamole.
  • Turkey hot-dogs on whole wheat buns with homemade pasta salad and cucumber niblets.
  • Peanut-butter and jelly with fresh bananas and local honey
  • Organic chicken sandwiches on whole wheat buns with the works and "Laurel's Veggie Delight"
  • Homemade organic vegetable lasagna.
  • Tom Sheppard organic strawberries with fresh yogurt and granola.
Transportation:

Campers will be safely escorted by Y.A.C. camp counselors in certified 9 passenger vans. All toys (surfboards, bikes, kayaks) will be loaded into our "Toy Box Truck" and delivered separately along with the campers on locations.

Session 1 campers will be transported via Y.A.C. transportation to Ventura Harbor and to Santa Cruz Island on board Island Packers Company ferries. All transportation costs are included in camp fee.
