Are you interested in the sport of adventure racing, or are you an experienced adventure racer looking to hone your skills? Either way, this is the race for you. The Central Coast Adventure Challenge Sprint race provides 2-person teams 2 to 5 hours of authentic adventure that welcomes first timers and challenges veterans.
The original site of the Central Coast Adventure Challenge welcomes us back in 2006. Santa Margarita Lake is nestled in between jagged sandstone pinnacles, rolling hills and proud oak trees of the Santa Lucia National Forrest. On a clear day one can see the coastline and the Sierra mountain range silhouette. Racing in this terrain isn't easy, the mountain bike and run sections include single track, fire road, road, even some bushwhacking and require dedication to accomplish. The Adventure Sprint also includes up to four miles of kayaking and multiple challenges including orienteering that test teamwork, balance and problem solving. This may be a short race but it is in no way watered down.
The race will feature:
- 3 to 4 miles of kayaking on Santa Margarita Lake using Malibu II kayaks provided by Santa Barbara Paddle Sports
- 8 to 10 miles of mountain biking that is half single track, half fire road
- 3 to 5 miles of trail running
